Arriving in Buxton

From Manchester Airport to the Devonshire Dome, Buxton:

The closest airport to the Buxton Campus is Manchester Airport. There are different travel options to/from the airport dependent on flight times. For more information regarding travel to and from Manchester airport, click here.


Trains run directly from the airport and takes approximately 90 minutes. To plan your journey and purchase tickets, click here.


Buses are available and have a similar transfer time. The timetable is available here and the route that is required is Skyline 199, which runs approximately every 30 minutes.

Cars & Taxis

The airport is approximately a one-hour drive from the Devonshire Dome (32 miles). If you wish to take a taxi from the airport, it is suggested you pre-book a taxi for your visit. Taxis cost approximately £60 each way, and the recommended local company is Allied Taxis.

From Birmingham International Airport to The Devonshire Dome, Buxton:

The train runs every hour from Birmingham International Airport (BMI) to Buxton (BUX). Tickets will be cheaper if booked in advance. The trains run from: Birmingham to Stockport / Stockport to Buxton with a journey time of just over 3 hours. 

From East Midlands Airport to The Devonshire Dome, Buxton:

The National Express Bus runs every day from East Midlands Airport to (EMA) to Buxton (BUX). Tickets booked in advance will be cheaper – however, a one-way ticket booked on the day of travel is approximately £20, direct. Alternatively, a bus runs once per day with a journey time of 4 hours.
