Established in 1940, William Angliss Institute (WAI) is the specialist-training provider for foods, tourism, hospitality and events. Offering short courses, certificates, diplomas, graduate certificates and bachelor degrees, William Angliss Institute enrols about 18,000 students annually. William Angliss Institute also conducts compliance and industry training with flexible learning solutions and training delivery options to suit the needs of organisations across Australia. Offshore, international partnerships continue to grow with training programmes delivered globally.

William Angliss Institute has strong links with the hospitality, tourism, events and foods industries. The Angliss Restaurant was awarded the 2014 Savour Australia Restaurant and Catering HOSTPLUS Award for Excellence for a Victorian Restaurant in Training Institute. Each year, students and staff are involved in key events including the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, the Australia Formula One Grand Prix and the Australian Open Tennis Championship. The Institute also works closely with its industry partners to develop workforce capability through traineeship and apprenticeship programmes, customised short courses and workshops.

The Angliss Careers and Employment service is dedicated to providing work opportunities for students, providing a vital link with industry through initiatives including employment advertising, careers expos, careers fact sheets and work-shops, individual careers consultations, information on working at large events such as the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival, Spring Racing Carnival and overseas. Similarly, the Angliss Global Network provides valuable linkages between industry, students and alumni through events, regular newsletters and opportunities for professional development, mentoring and networking.
