University of Santo Tomas
The University of Santo Tomas (UST) is one of the world’s Top 1000 universities, one of Southeast Asia’s Top 25 universities, and is one of the top four in the Philippines, per the 2019 QS Rankings*. It is a private Catholic university catering to over 40,000 students in one campus, making it the largest Catholic university located in a single site.
In the Philippines, UST is a leader in tourism and hospitality education, with both its Hotel and Restaurant Management and Tourism / Travel Management programmes recognised as Centers of Excellence (the highest recognition) by the Philippine Commission on Higher Education (CHED). Furthermore, its programmes are recognised by the International Centre of Excellence in Tourism and Hospitality Education (THE-ICE). As a comprehensive university, UST has been granted Autonomous Status by CHED, and is an Associate Member of the ASEAN University Network – Quality Assurance Group.

Tourism, Hospitality and Hotel Studies
The UST College of Tourism and Hospitality Management (CTHM), established in 2006, is a premier Tourism and Hospitality institution and renowned leader in the field of Tourism and Hospitality Education. Now in its 12th year, CTHM has produced exceptional graduates and highly employable tourism professionals, hoteliers, and restaurateurs.
CTHM has been granted Level IV Accredited status for its BS Travel Management programme and Level III Reaccredited status for its BS Hotel and Restaurant Management programme by the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA). The HRM programme was included on the Commission on Higher Education’s list of qualified programmes for the ASEAN International Mobility for Students. Moreover, both programmes were awarded by CHED as Centers of Excellence.
The College, in all its efforts to achieve Academic Excellence, was granted Full Accreditation by the International Centre of Tourism and Hospitality Education (THE-ICE) and was recognised in its commitment to Guest Service Excellence by the American Hotel and Lodging Education Institute (AHLEI), which made the University of Santo Tomas the first academic institution in the world to receive such recognition.
In the 2019 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings released on June 6, 2018, the University of Santo Tomas (UST) maintained its rank as one of the Top 1000 universities in the world and joined the Top 150 universities in the Asian University Rankings.
UST remained the only Philippine university that had earned QS 4 Stars rating, with improvement in the areas of Research and Internationalization. It retained its 4 Star rating in teaching and scored the highest (5 Stars) in Facilities, Employability, Social Responsibility, and Inclusiveness. Moreover, it gained an additional star rating for the Specialist criteria for Hospitality and Leisure Management, after a successful evaluation in 2017.

Certified Hospitality Educators (CHE) and Certified Guest Service Professionals (CGSP)
The University of Santo Tomas, through the College of Tourism and Hospitality Management (CTHM), was recognised in its commitment to Guest Service Excellence by the American Hotel and Lodging Education Institute (AHLEI) which made the University the first academic institution in the world to receive such recognition, having its faculty and staff complete and pass the training and professional certification for Certified Hospitality Educators (CHE) and Certified Guest Service Professionals (CGSP).
