THE-ICE IPoE (International Panel of Experts) Forums

THE-ICE IPoE (International Panel of Experts) Forums

THE-ICE IPoE (International Panel of Experts) Forums were established to offer a series of high-level events focusing on strategic issues facing tourism, hospitality and events and culinary arts education (TH&E). Each IPoE Forum has a highly focused theme, and leading experts from around the world are invited to speak on issues surrounding TH&E education, accreditation, benchmarking and the development of Best Practice.

To find out more about the upcoming IPoE Forum, please see our 2017 IPoE Forum webpage.

The History of THE-ICE IPoE Forums

In 2005 THE-ICE launched its first IPoE (International Panel of Experts) Forum with the vision that it would be a series of high-level events focusing on the strategic issues facing tourism, hospitality, events and culinary arts education (TH&E). Since then the IPoE Forum has become a signature event of THE-ICE with highly focused themes and sub-themes, providing outstanding opportunities for global industry and academic experts to present their views, and for members and non-members to network and develop collaborative synergy.

In 2011, to complement the IPoE Forum, encourage knowledge-sharing and the development of best-practice, THE-ICE initiated the Benchmarking Roundtable Series (BRS). Held bi-annually, and open exclusively to THE-ICE members and invited guests, the BRS focuses on specific benchmarking areas such as internship, industry advisory boards, governance structures, graduate outcomes, curriculum design & development, and academic integrity etc. The BRS offers both educators and administrative staff from participating institutions the opportunity to gain insight into the practices of peer institutions. At the conclusion of each BRS event, a “Best Practice Guide” is distributed to members of knowledge shared and the development of any best-practice models.

Since 2014, the second BRS of the year has been dovetailed as a Pre-Forum Workshop at the start of the IPoE Forum. The aim is to increase attendance to both events while offering the maximum value to network members by consolidating travel and other outgoings. From 2016 onwards, only one BRS will be organised, to be dovetailed to the IPoE Forum for reason as stated above.
